Research groups in the school are working on emerging fields in Civil Engineering like new age concrete, dynamics and earthquake engineering and geo-environmental engineering. Students are given opportunities in research as part of REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) in these research groups.
The School has a reputed and fully equipped consultancy cell which takes up various projects in and around North-Karnataka region. The Society of Civil Engineers provide an active forum that extends beyond the curriculum.
Every year, our students are recruited in many reputed construction companies like L & T, Shapoorji & Pallonji, Total Environmental etc. and in number of government organizations like PWD, irrigation etc.
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers an undergraduate program in Civil Engineering. The program covers all important domains of Civil Engineering like Construction Engineering and Management, Structures and Environmental Engineering domains to create and nurture technically proficient civil engineers ready to take on real world problems. The School also offers post-graduation in Structural Engineering and Doctorate degrees.
The strength of the School is the well qualified and experienced faculty in all major domains of Civil Engineering, majority of whom have received their Master’s and Doctoral degrees from reputed universities like IITs, NITs and foreign universities. The curriculum is continuously updated through the process of BoS (Board of Studies) meetings which comprises of experts from academia and industry. The School focuses on bridging the gaps between the academic concepts and the practical applications in real world through a series of projects like mini, minor and capstone, additionally, course projects are introduced in the required courses. The School has state of the art equipment in all the laboratories to be in sync with the industry requirement.

The course projects are introduced in the courses where the concepts can be well understood and higher level of learning can be achieved by developing application or a product or a process. Normally course instructor suggests the theme/s of the project and the students carry out the projects in a group of 3 or 4. The assessment is carried out on continuous basis using rubrics.
