About Program

The “Make in India” movement has begun, and a new breed of engineers is required to fulfill the need of Indian industries. Automation & Robotics will be one of the main drivers for this movement. KLE Tech (formerly BVBCET) started the state’s first bachelor’s degree course in Automation & Robotics in 2009 with 30 students, and currently, the intake is  60 students.

BE Automation & Robotics program prepares students for designing, interface, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial robots and automation systems. The main emphasis is on electronics, electrical controls, motors, programmable logic controllers, servo systems, robotics, hydraulics and pneumatics, and mechanical systems. Students integrate electronics and electrical controls with mechanical systems and programmable controllers and explore alternative trade-offs in the process of problem-solving.

Graduating engineers will be competent to work and excel in national and international companies working on innovative technical projects. Also, students are capable of pursuing master’s programs and research in leading universities. The department has state-of-the-art laboratories which strive hard to meet the industry standards. In this direction, the department has signed MOU with Bosch Rexroth India Ltd. and Beckhoff Automation India Pvt. Ltd. to set up a Centre for Competency in industrial automation and PC-based automation, respectively.

Program Overview

The Automation and Robotics Program strives to educate students to:

  1. Excel in postgraduate programs or to succeed in industry / technical profession through global, rigorous education.
  2. Have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Systems Engineering.
  3. Have an understanding of the professional and ethical obligations of the engineer to deal with issues such as public safety and respect for intellectual property with awareness of contemporary issues, professional responsibility, the impact of technology on society, and the need for life-long learning.
  4. To inculcate professional and ethical attitude, demonstrate effective communication skills, teamwork skills, multidisciplinary approach, and relate engineering issues to broader social context.
  5. Succeed in a challenging academic environment aware of excellence, leadership, written ethical codes and guidelines, and the life-long learning needed for a successful professional career.

  1. Karnataka B.Tech applicants must have passed PUC (Class 12) with at least 45% of marks.
  2. The applicants must have studied Class 12 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer Science/Statics as the main subjects.
  3. The applicants must have a valid KCET or COMEDK UGET or JEE Main score to secure B.Tech admission in Karnataka.
