B.V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering & Technology, Hubballi is offering a Post Graduate Diploma course in Fermentation and Bioprocess Technology. The college is selected as one of the 18 institutions in Karnataka under Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Program (BiSEP). The program is sponsored by Vision Group of Biotechnology, ABLE, Department of IT, BT and S & T and implemented by Karnataka Biotechnology & Information Technology Services (KBITS).

Objectives of BiSEP Program

  • Impart industry-oriented skill-set enhancing training
  • Enhance employability in biotech sector.
  • Nurture the local talent and create an ecosystem of entrepreneurship and growth of biotech sector.
  • Create research environment that foster excellent R&D in host institutions to address challenges existing in different sectors of Biotechnology.

The primary objective of the BiSEP program in the domain of Fermentation and Bioprocess Technology at B.V.B. College of Engineering & Technology is to equip the students with necessary know-how and do-how aspects of Fermentation and Bioprocess Technology, make them industry-ready and thereby bridge the gap between industry and academia Scope of Fermentation and Bioprocess Technology:

Fermentation and Bioprocess domain of Biotechnology deals with the production of biomolecules with commercial value. The domain finds practical applications in industries like Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverages, Agriculture and Healthcare. Career opportunities in the sector being bright, the domain beckons manpower with knowledge and skill-sets.

Eligibility for admission to BiSEP

The candidate must have passed Master’s degree examination with minimum of 50% in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics or any other Life Science related courses


Minimum of 50% in B.E / B.Tech. – Biotechnology or Bioinformatics, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Agriculture and Veterinary or 4 year degree courses in any branch of Life Sciences.

The minimum marks for students belonging to SC / ST categories shall be 40% in the qualifying degree examination.

Duration of the Program

The duration of the program is of one year, during which six months will comprise of theory and practical based- job-related skill-sets and for the remaining six months the candidates will undergo industry internship/training at selected biotechnology related companies having MoU with BVB College.

B.V.B. College of Engineering & Technology has Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with biotechnology related companies which include Navya Biologicals, Criyagen Pvt. Ltd, Prajna Biosciences and others.

Selection of the Students

The candidates would be selected based upon an entrance test- KBAT, which is an online Test and can be taken from anywhere with a good internet facility.

The intake of the students is 20, among which 10 will be selected from Karnataka and remaining 10 from rest of the states.

Fellowship to the Students:

The students undergoing the program would be receiving a fellowship of Rs 10000/- per month for the entire duration of the course. Upon successful completion of the course, the candidates would be awarded Post Graduate Diploma certificate in Fermentation and Bioprocess Technology.

Fee Structure:

  • Rs. 50000/- for the entire course
  • The students of Karnataka joining the course need to pay Rs. Only 25,000/- as course fee.
