About PUPA

PUPA – the flagship innovation event of Make in BVB (MIB) – returns with its 9th Edition, continuing its mission to transform student ideas into real, working products.

Inspired by the transformation stage of a butterfly, PUPA provides a structured platform where students learn by building, experimenting, and innovating. It is designed especially for beginners to take their first step into innovation through mentorship, teamwork, and hands-on execution.

Why PUPA?

PUPA helps students to:

  • Take their first step into innovation
  • Convert ideas into practical prototypes
  • Learn problem-solving through real execution
  • Experience product building and validation
  • Get introduced to the Make in BVB ecosystem

Who Can Participate?

  • Open to students of all branches and years
  • No prior technical or startup experience required
  • Technical and non-technical ideas are welcome

The PUPA Journey

Registration → Shortlisting → Mentorship & Seed Support → Build Phase → Sell → PUPA Day (Final Showcase)

During the journey, selected teams:

  • Receive mentorship from Team MIB
  • Get seed funding for prototyping
  • Build and refine their product over ~1 month
  • Exhibit the sold product on PUPA Day

What Happens on PUPA Day?

  • Teams showcase their working prototypes
  • Products are demonstrated and sold to real users
  • Projects are evaluated by faculty and guests
  • Innovation, execution, and impact are recognized

Rules for Registration

  • Participation is open to all students
  • Team size: 2–4 members
  • Only one idea per team
  • Ideas must be original and feasible
  • Hardware and software projects are allowed
  • Attendance in reviews and final showcase is mandatory
  • Selected teams must build and present a working prototype
  • Decisions by the organizing team are final

Key Dates & Timeline

  • Build Period: One month prior to 28th February 2026
  • Final Showcase (PUPA Day): 28th February 2026
  • Participants will exhibit and sell their products on the final day.

Do I need an idea to register?

Yes you can bring your own idea else guidance and problem statements will be provided.

Is PUPA beginner-friendly?

Yes, absolutely.

Is there any registration fee?

No, registration is free.

Can interdisciplinary teams be formed?

Yes, students from different branches and years can team up.

Yes, limited seed funding is provided for prototyping.

Can software projects be built?

Yes, digital and software-based solutions are allowed.
