KLE Tech's win at SAE India Aerothon competition
On 14th & 15th of November 2025, SAE India Aeroforum conducted the prestigious SAE India Aerothon competition at the backdrop of Christ University, Bengaluru.
The much anticipated event saw KLE Technological University’s Team AeroKLE, a 17-member team consisting of students from Mechanical, Aeronautical, Computer Science, and Electronics & Communication departments, secure the first prize in the competition.
The competition was divided into two missions.
Mission 1: Manual Flight Mission
It required a pilot to maneuver an aircraft manually through complex obstacles and accurately drop a fragile payload at the designated target.
Mission 2: Autonomous Flight Mission
It included a UAV to autonomously navigate a predefined area, identify a simulated disaster site, and deliver medical supplies to survivors. The mission also involved scanning dedicated zones, detecting, counting, and classifying three different objects within those zones.
Apart from securing the first position, AeroKLE successfully completed both missions, with the major highlight being that AeroKLE was the only team to fully complete the autonomous mission.
This achievement by Team AeroKLE brought significant pride to the University. The institutional leadership — Pro Chancellor Dr. Ashok Shettar, Vice Chancellor Dr. Prakash Tiwari, Registrar Dr. Basavaraj S. Anami, along with the deans — extended their appreciation by formally congratulating the team.
